Issue:
In the process of driving, the roof opening panel has abnormal noise.
Cause:
Due to among the sub-parts not properly matching, or roof opening panel with BIW not properly matching.
Action:
For the roof opening panel noise issue of X260 & X760, firstly confirm the location of abnormal noise, and then repair it according to the repair method in below content.
1. Inner cover noise
If the noise occurs on the left and right sides of the roof opening panel glass, press the inner trim with your hand to confirm whether the noise is eliminated during the road test.If the noise is eliminated, we can infer to the noise comes from the inner cover. We can solve the issue by changing the inner cover.
2. Noise by loosening screws of the front locator
Confirm noise position: it is located on the left or right side of the front end of the roof opening panel rail(as shown in the figure);
Open the roof opening panel to the most fully open position, tighten the bolts of the front locator again, and then road test to confirm whether the noise is eliminated;
If noise still exists, it may be from the front locator inside, please refer to the repair plan 3;
3. Noise from the front locator inside
Confirm noise position: it is located on the left or right side of the front end of the roof opening panel rail(as shown in the figure);
Open the roof opening panel to the most fully open position, grease on the locator as the pitcure shown. Check whether the noise is eliminated.
4. Noise from the rear locator (the end of the roof opening panel rail)
Confirm noise position: it is located on the left or right side of the end of the roof opening panel rail(as shown in the figure);
Remove the roof opening panel glass (Refer workshop manual 501-17).After re-fastening 3 bolts of rear locator, and then re-install the roof opening panel glass (Refer workshop manual 501-17) to make a road test to confirm whether the noise is eliminated;
If the noise still exists, loosen the bolts of locator, press the locator inward, and then tighten the bolts. Confirm whether the noise is eliminated;
5. Noise between the middle of both sides of the roof opening panel and the body (above B-pillar)
Confirm noise position: it is located on the left or right side near the B-pillar in the middle of the roof opening panel(as shown in the figure);
Spray grease between the matching position of the roof opening panel frame and body metal to confirm whether noise is eliminated;
If noise is still existing, remove the roof opening panel glass (Refer workshop manual 501-17) and the roof mouldings.
Hit the the roof opening panel frame with a hammer in the position shown in the figure, and then confirm whether the noise is eliminated;
Notice: Protective measures shall be taken when the hammer is struck (as shown in the figure), and forbid to direct use of the hammer on the guide rail.
6. If the above methods cannot work please release the TA .
