The range of services established on the basis of the key data in the SAM (Service Acceptance Module/Key Reader) are not
consistent with the mileage of the vehicle, e.g.
change of spark plugs, microfilters, air-conditioning system microfilters, brake-pad wear indicator, etc.

The service counter, e.g. engine oil service or brake-pad wear shows the value "0".
Background:
With the launch of the E70, CBS was gradually revised for the specified series. For more
information, see also Service Information 00 04 06 (148).
Maintenance work on some parts, such as microfilters or spark plugs, is now permanently paired with
a specific oil service interval multiple.
The service counter is used to calculate the point at which the jobs that are paired with the oil service become due.
If the service counter reads "0", the SAM is not able to calculate a plausible service job
from the Key Reader data. All jobs that are paired with the oil service are output as "due".

The service counter needs to be set to the correct value.
To do this, it is necessary to determine the service counter value from the service history of the vehicle. Each oil service
reset increases the service counter by a value of 1.
In a new vehicle, the service counter reads "1". After the first oil service, the
service counter must therefore read "2".
To set the service counter to the correct value, repeat the oil service reset until the
service counter reaches the value that matches the particular vehicle.
If the brake-pad wear indicator is displayed, a virtual brake repair must be carried out and the service counter for the relevant axle (front and/or rear) must be set to 1.
An unnecessary parts replacement due to a discrepant service-counter value is prohibited.
