Wind noise/leaks around the sliding/tilting sunroof and panoramic roof

Foam rubber seal used for vehicles with sunroof:

Due to the high number of complaints about leaks or wind noise on vehicles with a sunroof or panoramic roof, the seal around the roof flange has been modified.
In the event of a complaint, vehicles with no foam rubber seal must have the new foam rubber seal fitted.
New part number:
for sunroof (SHD): 54 10 7 245 551; for panoramic roof (PaDa): 54 10 7 199 533
To ensure that the seal functions to its optimum over the service life of the vehicle, the geometry of the seal has been optimised, with a different material now being used.
The result of these modifications is that the coding data for the sunroof or panoramic roof anti-trap mechanism MUST also be adjusted and updated when changing a seal. The reason for this adjustment is an altered force path in the closing mode when the new seal has been fitted.
The altered closing forces are stored in the vehicle's updated I levels, as appropriate to the vehicle projects.
The following vehicles are affected by the measure:
E83:
The measure is relevant for coding on vehicles up to the introduction into series production of I level E083-09-06-QM.
On vehicles that have I level E083-09-06-QM as standard, no coding is necessary.
The coding data will be released with ISTA/P P2.34.0, available to dealerships from mid-June 2009.

E60/E61:
The measure is relevant for coding on vehicles up to the introduction into series production of I level 08-09-530
On vehicles with I level 08-09-530 as standard, no coding is necessary.
The coding data will be distributed with ISTA/P P2.31.2, available to dealerships from mid-November
2008.
PROGMAN V31.2 will also finally be out in November 2008. The release dates are the same as those for ISTA/P

E65/E66:
Measure not relevant for coding.

E53:
Measure not relevant for coding.
If there are any faults (fault reversing), fit the seal with part number 54 12 8 185 757.

E91:
The measure is relevant for coding on vehicles manufactured up to the start of series production of I level 09-03-500
On vehicles with I level 09-03-500 as standard, no coding is required.
This data will be released with ISTA/P 2.33.0, available at dealerships from mid-March 2009.

E70/ E71:
The measure is relevant for coding on vehicles up to the introduction into series production of I level 09-03-500
On vehicles with I level 09-03-500 as standard, no coding is necessary.
This data will be released with ISTA/P 2.33.0, available at dealerships from mid-March 2009.


The new seal can be identified as follows:
- soft rubber instead of hollow rubber chamber profile
- new part number for sunroof (SHD): 54 10 7 245 551;
for panoramic roof (PaDa): 54 10 7 199 533
- the part number is printed near the adhesive liner on the sealing foot
- In the replacement seal packaging, there is an enclosed slip of paper stating that a seal replacement is relevant for coding:
"ATTENTION: seal replacement is relevant for coding / You MUST observe the PuMA measure"
