1. The predicted remaining distance for the brake pads on the front axle and/or on the rear axle does not correlate with the actual brake pad thickness. The brake pads are at their wear limit, although a low remaining distance (up to approx. 5000 km) is displayed in the CBS data.
2. Despite the displayed remaining distance in the CBS data, the brake pads on one side of wheel are at the wear limit. The brake pads on the side of wheel with the brake pad wear sensor are nearly at the wear limit.

Concerning 1. The brake pad wear estimate is based on a model and is an aid for the driver. The wear model is based on the vehicle speed, the brake-disc temperature and the brake pressure. Two levels of the wear sensor are used as a basis for the model.
Because the brakes are not protected against environmental conditions, wear is subject to different factors. Sand and dust entry usually result in higher wear that cannot be detected. Changing ambient conditions can also lead to distorted data
(winter operation, driving offroad, different vehicle users).
Concerning 2. For design reasons, only one brake pad sensor per axle is used. In rare cases, unfavourable vehicle handling and unfavourable ambient conditions may result in this wear pattern.

Concerning 1. When the brake pad thickness drops to 3.0 mm, the brake pads must be replaced on each axle as soon as possible and the CBS data reset. There is no fault, a reimbursement under warranty and goodwill 1-3
is therefore not possible.
