When you manually switch to TV, the navigation map briefly appears in the screen (in rare cases it remains until a power cycle is performed). The sound from the TV channel can be heard.
The TV picture is hidden while the vehicle is in motion (black screen). The navigation map appears again when the vehicle is stationary. Other menus can be selected, and once TV has been selected, the navigation map reappears.

The fault can be eliminated by allowing the vehicle to enter sleep mode, but may recur at any time.
