The radio remote control key/ID transmitter does not engage in the radio remote control key and consequently falls out. Vehicles without Comfort Access seemingly do not start.
However, the radio remote control key/ID transmitter is fully functional (opening/closing, etc.)
Radio remote control key slot fitted in the instrument panel (E8x, E9x, E7x) or right-hand steering
column trim (E6x from 09/2005).

Replace the radio remote control key slot if the retaining lugs in the radio remote control key slot are broken
(to be found on the right and left of the flap, see enclosure 1).
VARIANT B)
If there is no detectable damage to the radio remote control key slot but a gap approximately 5 mm
wide is visible (see illustration 2), insert the radio remote control key into the radio remote control key
slot with increased force (beyond the point of resistance as far as the normal insert depth). Then remove the radio remote control key/ID transmitter by "pressing then pulling" (as described in the Owner's Handbook).
GENERAL: Explain how it works to the customer as he had removed the radio remote control key/ID transmitter with excessive force without pressing first.
