Jittery directional stability and/or rut sensitivity in all road speed ranges.
Effect amplified over time due to increased wear of the rubber mount.
Rubber mount on transverse links and/or radius arms fitted without an intermediate plate.
If a wheel alignment check is pending, first check the rubber mounts of the transverse links and radius arms of the rear
axle (see enclosure 1) for the presence of the intermediate plate as follows.
1. Feel (see enclosure 2 and 3) the intermediate plate
ubber mount at all 4 bearing points in the vehicle with a
screwdriver
Scenario A: The outer rubber lip of the rear axle bearing cannot be pressed in, the screwdriver
meets firm
resistance at an insertion depth of approximately 0.5 - 1 mm ->The intermediate plate is present in the rear
axle link/arm - bearing OK. The damage caused by attempting to press in/feeling with the screwdriver at the
rubber mount is not critical.
Scenario B: The outer rubber lip can be pressed in with little force at the point where the intermediate
should be (see enclosure 4) ->The intermediate plate is missing from the rear axle link/arm. The radius arm and/or
transverse link concerned must be replaced. Observe RA 33 32 091 or 33 32 071.
Note:
The attempt at pressing in should be carried out with the transverse link and radius arm fitted. It is not
necessary to remove the links/arms or the rubber mounts.
