The customer will have an uneven winddeflector, that means that the part will always be on one side in
its highest position and on the other side in its normal position. Sometimes the wind-deflector arm can
also break, but always the fixation point is not engaged. Wind deflector will not deploy or will be offset
when the front glass panel is opened and vehicle is at speeds above 10mph.
During installation, the bracket could crack or split at the front edge (see attachment). This was not an
audible sound when the bracket cracked or fractured.
Service-Measure:
Change the fixation points (BMW-part number 54 10 7 171 089) for wind deflector. Refer to repair
procedure (RA 54 10 052).
In case the wind deflector is damaged, change the wind deflector (BMW part number 54 13 7 171 811)
according to repair procedure (RA 54 13 090).
Note:
It is not necessary to change the complete sunroof.
