The glove compartment opens of its own accord, does not remain closed.
The caps on the screws of the glove compartment lid (see enclosure) may fall off and block the glove compartment
mechanism. The caps are too small in diameter.
After-sales solution:
1.) Open the glove compartment fully.
2.) Remove the old caps from the screws and dispose of them (see enclosure).
3.) Replace them with new caps of greater diameter. (new BMW part number for
screw cap 51 16 4 214 709).
Note:
It is not permitted to replace the JunctionBox on the grounds of this complaint.
Series production measure:
The new caps for the screws were introduced on 16th July 2007.
