Intermittent fault.
No air emerging from the air vents. No refrigerating capacity.
The fan can be heard and adjusted.
The problem occurs mainly during a relatively long journey.
Normal air-conditioning system operation is restored following a brief interruption of the journey.
There is a large amount of condensation water under the vehicle.
Evaporator, housing recess. Excessive length tolerance.
Warm leakage air flows past the evaporator between evaporator and housing recess and runs onto the measurement donut of evaporator temperature sensor.
As a result, the evaporator temperature is measured incorrectly, which may lead to an icing up of the evaporator. The vehicles affected are E70 and E71 models from production date 10/2006.

A self-adhesive NiTO foam (part number 9 142 491) must be stuck on the temperature sensor of the evaporator.
1. Pull the evaporator sensor out of the air-conditioning unit.
2. Detach the evaporator sensor from the cable.
3. Affix the adhesive tape to the evaporator sensor opposite the connector socket.
NOTE: the adhesive surface must be dry and clean.
When applying the adhesive tape, care must be taken to make sure that the tape is affixed between the guide ridges.
Care should also be taken to ensure that the adhesive tape is applied starting from the aperture for the sensor.

4. After applying the adhesive tape, connect the evaporator sensor to the wiring harness of the heater/air conditioner, making sure that the sensor connection is correctly seated in the socket on the heater/air conditioner.
Before fitting the evaporator sensor, the adhesive tape must be compressed and the sensor fitted at the same time so that the adhesive tape does not cause a problem during fitting ->after a while, the adhesive tape returns to its original position (adhesive tape height).
