Door handles with option 322 (Comfort Access) may also be affected.
Tolerance problems with various components of the outside door handle.
Series production measure:
From week 17/07, introduction of a new deflection lever and increased spring force at the
carrier for the outside door handle for all E-series concerned.
!!! CAUTION: OBSERVE NEW PROCEDURE !!!
Service measure:
1.) In the event of a customer complaint concerning an outside door handle without Comfort Access:
- Replace both or all 4 door handles without the Comfort Access function (depending on vehicle equipment level).
2.) In the event of a customer complaint concerning an outside door handle with Comfort Access:
- Replace the affected outside door handle with Comfort Access function
- Additionally: Replace the outside door handles without the Comfort Access function
Proceed in accordance with the latest Repair Instructions.
Important:
The carrier (door handle mounting) must be fitted flush to the rear, opposite the direction of travel.
The two white, plastic slide pieces (see enclosure, arrowed) must be visible.
Important, caution:
Modified door handles are available for complaints with immediate effect. These door handles
are delivered ready painted. Painting is therefore no longer necessary.
Without fail, always state the colour code when placing the order.
Part numbers of the modified outside door handles:
- Unpainted (black) bar handles must be ordered as specified in the Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC).
